Two things about this article:

  1. How does this article need to be expanded?
  2. What should the frontal image be? Felix Sonatamayor (or however you spell his name) gets a little. . . fanciful, and his idea of Gondolin isn't quite accurate. We might put Tolkien's own drawing there, but its. . . simplicity sort of distracts, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, because of how important and how frequently viewed this article is, we need to do some expansion. It just doesn't flow continuously. At least there should be a chronologically-organized history section. I'm going to work on it this afternoon. --Narfil Palùrfalas 13:08, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

I would like to create an infobox for this article and articles like it but I'm unsure how to proceed. Do we make one for cities? structures? locations? One for each of those? Nasmith's interpretation is probably the most accurate version when you compare it to Tolkien's own, not to mention the fact that it is very well done, so maybe that would be a good choice for the primary image. I agree this article needs a lot of work and I'll work with you on it creating more sections and expanding it while maintaining the flow of the article. --Hyarion 14:15, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
I also like the Nasmith image, but unfortunately Gondolin covers more or less 10% of the entire image, and it would be rather indistinct if shrunk down to the size needed for the page. Would a crop be violation of copyright? --Narfil Palùrfalas 14:31, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

FA Upgrade

This article could be a Featured Article candidate-- it just need some references.--Theoden1 20:00, 27 July 2008 (EDT)

Main image

I propose to change the main image of Ted Nasmith with the one of Alan Lee, which has the city in the foreground and fits the infobox better. I've provisionally changed it to show how it looks like, I can undo it. --LorenzoCB 13:41, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I prefer the former, to be honest. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 22:55, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
