While browsing Foster's Guide, I discovered that there is no entry on either "House of Isildur" or "House of Anarion". This means that in LotR there is no reference to these two Houses as such; instead there are entries like "Line of Isildur" and "Line of Anarion", two terms well attested in LotR. I dont know about the terms of nobility and what each implies in practice, but it seems that these two noble Lines were not titled Houses, perhaps to keep Elendil in a traditionally higher status.

The question is, is the title "House of Isildur" mentioned in any apocryphal text by Tolkien (viz. HoMe, perhaps PM), or is it simply a conventional name used by the first editor of this article? If the phrase "House of Isildur" is never mentioned by Tolkien, then this should be renamed "Line of Isildur". Sage 10:57, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
