Portrayal in adaptations[edit source]

Hi @English Lady, I noticed the following statement was removed, just wanted to make sure that was intentional. Is it inaccurate? "In the movie, Isildur apparently is the last king of Gondor; Anárion and heirs and Arnor do not appear at all. However, in the Extended Editions both Arnor and the House of Anárion are mentioned, and at times it is clear that Isildur was not the last King, so this might be dialogue error." I removed the statement because it was inaccurate. Nowhere in the movies is it claimed Isildur was the last King of Gondor. English Lady (talk) 06:49, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hm, what about this scene? Hyarion (talk) 07:27, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could be just a minor error in the dialogue. Nitpicking if you ask me. You wouldn't, I assume respond too well about me nickpicking over Rings of Power? English Lady (talk) 09:32, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'd also refer you to the page on Gondor. Isildur was the first and last joint King of Gondor (with Anarion), After his death it became an independent realm. Gondor, English Lady (talk) 09:37, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry I appreciate your help and don't mean to step on your toes, I'm just trying to make sure if we remove a statement from the article that it's either inaccurate or there's a consensus that it doesn't belong. I think we can agree now that the film does state Isildur is the last king, as to whether it's noteworthy to include in the article; fans who have watched the movie have asked if Isildur was the last king of Gondor12 Eärnur's Portrayal in adaptations section also mentions this difference in the film, and since the film's dialog conflicts with who we say is the last king, in my opinion it doesn't seem like something that is worthless. Is Earnur mentioned in the book? If not it could have been a rights issue. English Lady (talk) 15:47, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah he has quite a few mentions, not sure if you're familiar with the Digital Tolkien Project but it has a nifty search feature that has saved me a lot of time. Hyarion (talk) 15:51, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, I mean if we're being technical, Isildur's line ruled Arnor, not Gondor. He only person of his line who ruled Gondor was - him. English Lady (talk) 17:15, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We're an encyclopedia, so we always want to be technical :) The quote from the film is not "Isildur, the last of his line to rule Gondor". It is "the last King of Gondor". Isildur is not the last King of Gondor. I appreciate your input though! Hyarion (talk) 19:04, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Television[edit source]

Saying "found in the source materials" is too vague. I think we should stick to terms like "found in the books" which are used elsewhere in the article. English Lady (talk) 21:41, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
