Talk:Ivorwen

There is a very interesting passage I found in The Peoples of Middle-earth foreword, relating to Aragorn and his relation to the Elessar stone:

...and his father gave him the name Aragorn, a name used in the House of the Chieftains. But Ivorwen at his naming stood by, and said 'Kingly Valour' (for so that name is interpreted): 'that he shall have, but I see on his breast a green stone, and from that his true name shall come and his chief renown: for he shall be a healer and a renewer.'
The Peoples of Middle-earth

I was wondering if it should be included in the main section of the article, or the OVOTL section - since it is part of a manuscript that was apparently a predecessor of Appendix A? Also, the above passage should probably be included, in one way or another, in the articles about the Elfstone and Aragorn. - IvarTheBoneless 07:49, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is already in the main section of the Aragorn article without much detail. It is fine for me. --LorenzoCB 09:40, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I should have looked more thoroughly then. So the main section it is? - IvarTheBoneless 10:05, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Material from manuscripts that were written by J.R.R. Tolkien, which were published in a different form should be published in the Other versions of the legendarium section (maybe with the exception of years of birth, which have not been published in final form at all). Most of the time the reasons why Tolkien omitted information, changed information or added information in the final form or even in second editions are not known and it is speculation that they were omitted only to save space. --Akhorahil 15:22, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
