I don't have my copy of The Peoples of Middle-earth available, but I believe it's inconclusive whether the older siblings that Tolkien referenced for Meneldil were daughters or older brothers who had died in the war. If I remember correctly, both possibilities are mentioned, though I do seem to remember seeing a family tree with [daughters?] or something similar next to Meneldil. I think its a fine point for extra-canonical rumination, but I'm not sure it belongs in this article.
