I've added two references for this article (thanks LorenzoCB!) - one to the Silmarillion chapter "Of Beren and Lúthien" and another to the Lay of Leithian. I don't have a copy of The History of Middle-earth Vol. 3 (The Lays of Beleriand) and so I'm uncertain about whether the quote at the top of the page is actually from "Canto XI, vv. 199-205" as I have currently written. A quick Google yesterday led to me http://tolkienleithian.blogspot.com/2013/03/canto-xi.html which suggests the quote is from Canto XI, but as I don't have the source material I can't be sure. If somebody who has the book can double check this, and the Lay of Leithian Canto reference, that'd be great. Thank you! --GondolinFan 19:53, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is not from Canto XI, but from Canto X. The verses in the Lays of Beleriand are reckoned differently, since they are counted from the first Canto till the last Canto. Concerning this specific Canto, its being X, from my counting it would be vv. 149-155. Were you to copy it from the book, it would be vv. 3004-3010 of the whole collection of Cantos. --Quirinius 20:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
