Perhaps the assumption is based on the quote that says the nameless things "gnaw" on the earth? But I could also imagine that these creatures use underground caves and cracks, as you say, and the delvings by Morgoth of the Underdeeps. --Morgan 19:26, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
