Talk:Onna

From Tolkien Gateway

Is this fanon? Because the link for it was Moringothonna. --Dwarf Lord 13:49, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

No, I don't think so. That word (Moringothonna) was created here, and this translation has been used all over the web, including in the Spanish Wikipedia. Onna is also used by HKF here, in his translation of Genesis 2. Onna also apparently is a Sindarin verb meaning beget, see here. HKF further suggests the origin of onna, here (search for onna; third time it appears). And, of course, in the Quettaparma Quenyama it is included with the definition "creature". Perhaps we should source it to the last link I gave. --Narfil Palùrfalas 14:42, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't really know anything about the different languages of the Elves or any for that matter except for Khuzdul. --Dwarf Lord 15:55, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
