:No, these articles shouldn't be merged, as they are clearly referring to two different passes (see [[Map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North]]; Aglon located to the east of Ered Gorgoroth and Anach to the west of Ered Gorgoroth). Concerning the translation of ''Aglon'': the name is given the translation "The Narrow Pass" in the Index to ''The Silmarillion'' (Robert Foster writes "S.: 'narrow pass'", ''The Complete Guide to Middle-earth'', p. 3).--[[User:Morgan|Morgan]] 18:31, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

::This article shares a "Should Be Merged" tag with the <nowiki>[[Aglon]]</nowiki> article.  In ''The Silmarillion'' the location is referred to as "Aglon" and the "Pass of Aglon" interchangeably (and in the Grey Annals, paragraph 242 calls the area the "Gorge of Aglon").  I don't know how the merging process is handled but I have reworked this article so as to remove it from the "Sourceless" category. --[[User:Gamling|Gamling]] 20:45, 9 March 2013
:::Great work, Gamling (as usual)! As far as I know there are no strict rules concerning the merging process. When I consider something to be somewhat controversial or complicated (like [[Talk:Thorin's letter]]), I personally seek the opinion of other editors before doing a merge. In a case like this, however, I wouldn't hesitate to [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Be bold|be bold]].--[[User:Morgan|Morgan]] 21:00, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Translation[edit source]

Aglon does NOT mean "narrow". The word for narrow is "agor". The article anyway should be moved together with the Anach article. --Thalion 16:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No, these articles shouldn't be merged, as they are clearly referring to two different passes (see Map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North; Aglon located to the east of Ered Gorgoroth and Anach to the west of Ered Gorgoroth). This article shares a "Should Be Merged" tag with the [[Aglon]] article. In The Silmarillion the location is referred to as "Aglon" and the "Pass of Aglon" interchangeably (and in the Grey Annals, paragraph 242 calls the area the "Gorge of Aglon"). I don't know how the merging process is handled but I have reworked this article so as to remove it from the "Sourceless" category. --Gamling 20:45, 9 March 2013
