Tar-Alcarin was the seventeenth King of Númenor.[1] His name means "the Glorious".

Tar-Alcarin was the son of Ruling Queen Tar-Vanimeldë and Herucalmo, a descendant of Tar-Atanamir. When Tar-Vanimeldë died in S.A. 2637, Herucalmo took the Sceptre for his own and assumed the name Tar-Anducal. Tar-Alcarin had to wait for twenty years until his father died before he could become the rightful King. "Tar-Anducal" being an usurper was not reckoned in the Line of Kings as the seventeenth ruler of Númenor.[2]
