The Shibboleth of Fëanor was a writing by Tolkien in the The Peoples of Middle-earth concerning the Flight of the Noldor and how language affected this; primarily the change from þ to s. It includes the Quenya father-names of the House of Finwë. As well, it tells the tragic story of the death of Amras at Losgar, and of the naming of him and his twin.

The name "Shibboleth" comes from the following Biblical passage:

"'5 The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan opposite Ephraim. And it happened that when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, "Let me cross over," the men of Gilead would say to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" If he said "No", 6 then they would say to him, "Say now 'Shibboleth.'" But he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it correctly. Then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. Thus there fell at that time 42,000 of Ephraim."
