Third Age 1980 (abbreviated to T.A. 1980) is the 1980th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 1980 was also known as S.R. 380 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- The Witch-king comes to Mordor and there gathers the Nazgûl.[1]
- A Balrog appears in Moria, and slays King Durin VI.[1]
- Náin I, son of Durin VI, becomes the King of Durin's Folk.[2]
