Thorongil (pronounced thoro'ngeel), was an alias taken by Aragorn in his youth (T.A. 2957-2980), when he journeyed to Rohan and Gondor and performed services to their lords.
Etymology
Thorongil is Sindarin for Eagle of the Star. thoron = eagle, gil = star.
