The Silmarillion vs. HoMe

One of the grey points that hasn't been discussed is that in several points throughout HoMe Christopher Tolkien himself admits some ommissions and mistakes while compiling the Silmarillion. As of now, different articles follow different policies:

  • Amrod follows the post-Silmarillion version, mentioning the published version in a later section;
  • The article Halls of Mandos follows the published Silmarillion, where CT erroneously "corrected" the text by putting them in the western shores of Valinor, and admitted doing so in BolT.
  • Echoriad follows the later spelling JRRT intended, as this revision eluded CT somehow
  • Gil-galad includes both (see his infobox)

Which of these articles follow the earlier and which follow the current policy? Should we update Amrod to reflect the published Silmarillion? Or we should update Halls of Mandos past CT's erroneous revision to reflect JRRT's intent? Sage 14:38, 16 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
