Tompollë was the place of the Great Bear-dance (ruxöalë) in Númenor.
History[edit | edit source]
Every year during the autumn season, many Númenóreans would come from all across the island to the region of the Forostar where Tompollë was located, in order to witness the Great Bear-dance, which occurred not too long after the Eruhantalë.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Tompollë is a Quenya name with an unclear meaning. However, Paul Strack suggests that it could be related to the root TOM ("of resonant sounds") and elaborated from the early Quenya Tompa ("small drum").[2]
