:Meaning and etymologies of names in the legendarium (such as names of Orcs) should only be explained by references to Tolkien's works and/or linguistic sources by Tolkien scholars. The page on David Salo's blog is neither of these (it's a list of Orcish in ''The Hobbit'' films), and the information can therefore not be added to etymology sections in articles at Tolkien Gateway. Feel free, however, to work on the list on your personal page, as you already have done. Just let me know if you have further questions!--[[User:Morgan|Morgan]] 10:06, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

== PE22 citation template ==
Hello there; would it be possible to create a citation template for Parma Eldalamberon 22? [[Template:PE]] says to comment here, and the templates only run through PE21. My suggestions:
PE|22 = [[J.R.R. Tolkien]], "The Feanorian Alphabet, Part I and Quenya Verb Structure", in [[Parma Eldalamberon 22|Parma Eldalamberon XXII]] (edited by [[Christopher Gilson]] and [[Arden R. Smith]])
If you felt like doing subdivisions (which could be possible for some of the other PEs too), these would work:
22a = [[J.R.R. Tolkien]], "The Feanorian Alphabet, Part I", in [[Parma Eldalamberon 22|Parma Eldalamberon XXII]] (edited by [[Arden R. Smith]]) </br>
22b = [[J.R.R. Tolkien]], "Qenya Spelling", in [[Parma Eldalamberon 22|Parma Eldalamberon XXII]] (edited by [[Christopher Gilson]] and [[Arden R. Smith]]) </br>
22c = [[J.R.R. Tolkien]], "Quenya Verb Structure", in [[Parma Eldalamberon 22|Parma Eldalamberon XXII]] (edited by [[Christopher Gilson]]) </br>

Hey!
I am working on [[User:Sage/Obscure locations|this thing]]. Since there is a category for "Characters of unknown race", do you think that it would be useful to create a category for "Locations not appearing on maps" or "Locations appearing only on maps"? [[User:Sage|Sage]] 14:03, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
:PS: whether you agree or not, feel free to make additions to that page. [[User:Sage|Sage]] 14:08, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
:Hello Sage!
:Indeed, I think it would be useful. At the time you first created the list, I wrote [http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/User_talk:Sage/Obscure_locations this] (which perhaps you missed).--[[User:Morgan|Morgan]] 18:56, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Morgan, should <nowiki>{{DEFAULTSORT}}</nowiki> be placed on redirect pages for Elvish terms? I created the page "Etyañgoldi" (meaning "Exiled Noldor") as a redirect to [[Exile of the Noldor]], and I wasn't sure if I should add <nowiki>{{DEFAULTSORT:Etyangoldi}}</nowiki> to it. Thanks! :Hi! I usually add a defaultsort for such spellings, especially if I also add a category to the redirect page.--[[User:Morgan|Morgan]] 21:37, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

A question

How many edits do i need to become autoconfirmed?--LordAndSaviourSauron 18:20, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A question for User:Hyarion or User:Mith! :-) --Morgan 18:48, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
50, I think. It used be 10, but people were making spurious edits just to get to 10 edits. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 08:44, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok--LordAndSaviourSauron 04:39, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Orc names

User:LordAndSaviourSauron/Orc names I tried to figure out what the names of the orcs mean, and i apparently manage to figure out some. My question is, is it safe to add the etymologies in the articles? thank you--LordAndSaviourSauron 08:40, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was mainly asking to add them on the pages of the orcs which appear only in the movies, but whatever--LordAndSaviourSauron 12:04, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
