Valandur (T.A. 462[1]-652,[2] age 190 years) was the eighth King of Arnor.

History

He succeeded his father, Tarondor, to the throne in 602.

Little record remained of his reign, except that he suffered a violent but mysterious death after a rule of fifty years. He was succeeded by his son, Elendur, upon his death in T.A. 652.[2]

Valandur is the only King of Arnor (except Isildur) who died violently.[3]

Etymology

Valandur's name is Quenya for "Servant of the Valar" from Valar, and the suffix -dur meaning "servant of, devoted to".
