Year of the Trees 1085 (abbreviated to Y.T. 1085) is the 1085th year of the Trees in the First Age of Arda. Year of the Trees 1085 was also V.Y. 4585 in Valian Years.

Notable events in this year include:

  • Oromë discovers the Elves near the shores of Helcar; he names them the Eldar, the People of the Stars. As a result of Melkor's spies and whispers, some Eldar are afraid of Oromë and flee as he approaches.[1]
  • About this time, it is possible that the first Orcs are created, being corrupted from Elves.[1]
