Little is known about these halls save that in T.A. 2589, Dáin was killed by a great Cold-Drake along with his son Frór at the entrance to the city. A year later, most of Durin's Folk (though not all) abandoned the mountains, and left for Erebor and the Iron Hills lead by Thrór and Grór, respectively, Dáin's other two sons.

2018: The Lord of the Rings Online:
- Founded by Thorin I it was known as "Grárik" or the "Grey Kingdom". Its capital was "Thikil-gundu, the Steel Keep", a fortress which pre-dated the kingdom and was also claimed by the "Zhélruka" dwarves of the East.
