Kate Madison, born in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England, was the director of and an actor in the critically-acclaimed fan film "Born of Hope." In the film, she portrayed Elgarain, a Ranger and close friend of Arathorn. Notably, Elgarain is an original character created specifically for the film and does not appear in the Tolkien legendarium.

Madison's journey into the world of acting began at the tender age of four when her mother introduced her to a local amateur dramatic group. She pursued her education at Netherhall School and Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge. Later, she earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from Aberystwyth University. However, her passion for the arts led her away from a career in zoology. She became an active member of the Cambridge Filmmakers Network (CFN) and, in 2003, founded her company, Actors at Work Productions. Through CFN, Madison embarked on her first two film projects, setting the stage for her future endeavors in the film industry.
