Oxonmoot is an annual convention organised by The Tolkien Society. It is usually held at a college of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England, and was formerly conducted on the weekend closest to 22 September, the shared birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. In recent years, however, it has instead been organised over the first weekend of September.[1]
The moot usually includes talks, a quiz, an art show, a masquerade and other entertainments, a visit to Tolkien's grave in north Oxford, and last, but not least, the chance to spend a weekend in the company of other fans of Tolkien's work. Most of the event is held in an Oxford college.
