It seems to me that this letter is written to Susan Dagnall. See Scull - Hammond, The J. R. R. Tolkien Companion and Guide I, 2006, p. 192, where they clearly quote the same letter (partially same sentences, also parts not published in the Letters), which is told to be written to Susan Dagnall (who then worked for the publisher). Scull and Hammond don't mention Letters, but their source is the Tolkien-George Allen & Unwin archive, HarperCollins. --Tik 10:15, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
