I propose that we add some more information to this article.

1. The songs' compositional history, as described in Swann's autobiography and the Forewords to the first and second editions of the cycle.

2. A brief summary of premiere performances, notable recordings, etc...

3. A slightly more detailed description of the contents is merited, perhaps the sources of poetry for each song, their keys, etc...

4. A summary of the Notes and Translations section is merited, since it is of significant interest to Tolkien Linguists as well as prospective performers of the cycle.

I do have a question, however. Someone posted that the song "Luthien Tinuviel" was first published in the collection Songs of Donald Swann: Volume 1 without referencing a source. It's true that the song was included in that collection, but Scull and Hammond's Reader's Guide notes that the Luthien Tinuviel was first published in 1992, a year before the third edition was published, and the Donald Swann website gives 1998 as the year of publication for the song collection in question. Does anyone know where the error is here? I ask not only for the accuracy of the article, but also because I'm struggling to find the original publishing format of the song, which I'm trying to find for research purposes. The plot thickens; there's something screwy going on with the various sources of information I have; the archivist for the Swann Estate has noted that these chronologies don't add up, and he and I are trying to figure out where the mistake is. When I have everything cleared up, I'll make any modifications necessary to the article.Corsair Caruso 22:30, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Go for it in terms of your proposed changes to the article. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 14:12, 28 February 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
