Tolkien Gateway:Meetings/3 October 2010/Transcript

<Hyarion> good day Ederchil.
<Ederchil> evening all
<Amroth> hi Ederchil
<Ederchil> checked in early, but got some stuff to take care of so brb
<KingAragorn> evening
<Amroth> I'm going to make some hw in a few minutes
<KingAragorn> I won't actually be here for the meeting
<Eldarion> good evening
<Amroth> hi Eldarion
<Eldarion> hi amroth
<Eldarion> and ederchil and hyarion :)
<Hyarion> how are you doing Eldarion?
<KingAragorn> but I will say this now (I have to go now, so please ponder it and respond):
<KingAragorn> [2010-09-05 20:19:49] <KingAragorn> ok, any idea on a timeframe?
<KingAragorn> [2010-09-05 20:19:56] <Hyarion> soon.
<KingAragorn> One month has passed and the website still goes down reguarly - at the same time the editors have to use a watered down system, being denied even the most basic wiki features. Problems with the site for both the readers and the editor have been going on for a lot longer. Four months have passed since we sought for Hyarion to fix the problems with his website. We moved to a new server and we...
<KingAragorn> ...are greatful that the sie loads fast (when it actually works); however we a VERY frustrated that the remainding problems have not been retified and that basic wiki features and user-requested extensions are not available. The source of all of our problems is not the technical issues, but something much more serious... Our site owner and admin is inactive and obviously doesn't have the...
<KingAragorn> ...time that he used to. Furthermore we feel like our enquiries are going ignored and some see this as simple rudeness. I'm not going to settle for another "<Hyarion> soon."; we either need the committment of the site administrator OR we take our time, committment and effort elsewhere. The committment could be as simple as handing ownership/adminship of the site over to someone else. We...
<KingAragorn> ...would not like to but are seriously considering the possibility of going elsewhere to set up our own Tolkien Wiki. Please Hyarion, do the right thing. I love TG and think your creation is amazing - and I thank you for it. BUT you have lost the committment you had and your current actions (or inactions) are extremely irresponsible when you consider all of the work everyone has put into...
<KingAragorn> ...Tolkien Gateway.
<Ederchil> hi too
<Eldarion> ehm, good, have just moved, am startign my study now
<Eldarion> was a bit worried but my internet works here luckily, so i can attend this meeting
<Amroth> what are you studying, Eldarion?
<Eldarion> computer science, well a kind of, it's called i.t. systems engineering
<Amroth> okay, nice
<Eldarion> yes :)
<Hyarion> Eldarion, cool, do you focus on other areas compared to Computer Science?
<Amroth> Just found out that I my CKV (Culture and Art) books lay at school, so i can't make my homework
<Eldarion> in my study?
<Hyarion> Eldarion, yea
<Ederchil> CKV is useless anyway
<Amroth> I agree
<Amroth> I juist copy it from somebody else in the break lol
<Amroth> as usual
<Eldarion> it's more practical than most computer science studies, there's a bit law and software engineering..
<Hyarion> sounds interesting, wish we had that over here.
<Eldarion> have you studied something similar?
<Eldarion> @hyarion
<Hyarion> my major was Computer Science, with a concentration in Computer Information Systems which allowed me to minor in Management Information Systems
<Eldarion> ah okay
<Hyarion> so probably similar to your IT Systems Engineering, as the focus was less on advanced calculus/physics and more on classes like digital forenics, databases, etc.
<Amroth> Just saw I had 7,5 for ANW :)
<Ederchil> ANW is useless too
<Amroth> just stuff from three years ago
<Amroth> most part of my subjects are useless
<Hyarion> :) I kind of appreciate it, I was forced to learn subjects I wouldn't learn on my own.
<Eldarion> yes, i agree
<Eldarion> i never would have developed an interest in history, but now..
<Eldarion> it just needs a good teacher, i think
<Hyarion> indeed.
<Amroth> true
<Eldarion> it's 9 but mith and morgan are missing
<Hyarion> we'll give them a couple minutes just in case.
<Amroth> I always got boring teachers for physics, biology and science
<Amroth> that's why I dropped all those subjects
<Ederchil> same here,.
<Amroth> with profile did you have, Ederchil?
<Hyarion> and if you get non-boring teachers, they usually don't end up teaching anything :p
<Ederchil> E&M
<Ederchil> true, Hyarion. My history teacher....
<Eldarion> ^^
<Amroth> me too
<Eldarion> my history teacher was efficient and non-boring ;)
<Amroth> my Dutch teacher is talking about nice books half of the time,
<Ederchil> you asked him to explain fact C, he'd tell fact A, B, then skip to Z and work his way back.
<Amroth> and the other part he only talks about OSM (online foutball game)
<Ederchil> My Dutch teacher became my aunt last month ;o
-->| Morgan (Morgan@TG-C055BE8.cust.bredbandsbolaget.se) has joined #Wiki
<Hyarion> hi Morgan.
<Morgan> Hi all
<Amroth> hi Morgan
<Eldarion> hey
<Hyarion> I guess we can wait a few more minutes for Mith
<Eldarion> yes
<Morgan> Are the initiators, Mith and KA, here?
<Amroth> KA couldn't come
<Morgan> Oh, that's bad - he usually manage the structure of the meetings ;)
<Ederchil> these things have structure?
<Hyarion> hehe
<Morgan> ;)
<Hyarion> at least we have a pretty good turn out.
<Morgan> Did Mith notify that he would be late?
<Hyarion> not that I'm aware of.
<Morgan> Did you guys decide on a "chairman" for the meeting before I logged in?
<Eldarion> no, or did we?! hyarion, could you be?
<Hyarion> sure
<Eldarion> great
<Hyarion> shall we go ahead and start?
<Morgan> +1
<Hyarion> We can always update Mith if he joins late.
<Morgan> yep
<Ederchil> okay
<Eldarion> yes, that's right +1
<Amroth> okay
<Hyarion> okay, I'm just going to go down the list, first item on the agenda:
<Hyarion> "Update on server issues, extensions etc."
<Morgan> It's your show, Hyarion ;)
<Hyarion> I suppose this one is targeted at me, confirmation e-mails and Portal namespace should be working as of this morning.
<Hyarion> aside from that, not too much to report the last few weeks.
<Hyarion> but looking at the Technical To-do list, I'm thinking we should be able to get at least a couple items fixed during the meeting today.
<Morgan> We still have had some problem with TG being down, although it doesn't happen that often lately
<Ederchil> it was down?
<Ederchil> missed that
<Amroth> last week
<Morgan> Yeah, it was last tuesday I think
<Hyarion> from our uptime reports, while I still have some tweaking todo, the software has been locking up much less frequently.
<Morgan> When Mith uploaded so many images for the game (Aragorn's Quest?)
<Ederchil> oh yeah, remember now
<Hyarion> Has anyone noticed any other technical items they would like resolved that is not listed on the Tolkien Gateway:Technical To-do page?
<Eldarion> i think point 4 has something to do with that?!
<Morgan> Hyarion, what happened to the edit box that used to appear at the top of the edit page? The one you could use to quickly access the code for adding your signature, etc?
<Morgan> For us non-techies it was quite vital (although I'm starting to memorize the basic codes now)
<Hyarion> Morgan, I have a feeling when we upgraded to the latest version of MediaWiki, certain skins need to be upgraded to reflect changes in the code, are you using the Ithilien skin?
<Morgan> Cavendish
<Hyarion> mmm, scratch that, it looks like it is probably an issue with the Common.css, because Monobook/Cavendish seem to exhibit the same behavior.
<Morgan> Would changing to Ithilien resolve the issue?
<Morgan> Aha
<Amroth> with skin is the ithilien one? How is it looking?
<Hyarion> Let me add that to the to-do so it doesn't get overlooked, as I agree having those buttons makes it easier for newer users to begin becoming used to the wiki-codes.
<Hyarion> the Ithilien one is the John Howe/Ted Nasmith inspired one.
<Hyarion> Merri from our sister site Kontu Wiki created it for us.
<Ederchil> the blue one
<Eldarion> could you add the maps extension too?
<Hyarion> the Google Maps for Arda one or a different one?
<Eldarion> to the todo list i mean
<Amroth> I think I'm having that one (darkblue with Tolkien Gateway in yellow), but the edit box isn't working by me
<Hyarion> yea, I know there was a conflict the first time we tried to install it, let's see if we can give it a try this afternoon and see if we can resolve that.
<Hyarion> speaking of maps, that reminds me of http://tolkiengateway.net/map I wonder if we can think of some more points to add.
<Eldarion> yes, Google Maps for Arda. i could add it myself but my internet connection is soo weak...
<Eldarion> am happy that i can chat
<Eldarion> great
<Amroth> Maybe you could add the Tolkien Shop at the map
<Eldarion> where's this?
<Amroth> Leiden, The Netherlands
<Eldarion> cool
<Morgan> I've bought some books from the Tolkien Shop, the owner is very helpful!
<Amroth> I visisted the shop last year :)
<Amroth> we're having an article of it on the wiki
<Ederchil> so far I've only been an online customer
<Amroth> http://www.tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Tolkien_Winkel
<Amroth> the first edit i did on this wiki
<Morgan> Should we move to point 3?
<Morgan> sorry - point 2!
<Amroth> Okay
<Eldarion> not 2?
<Ederchil> New policy on Featured articles and Featured quotes
<Eldarion> well okay
<Morgan> I believe Mith wrote that one?
<Morgan> What's the policy we have right now?
<Hyarion> yes sorry, let's move on to point 2
<Ederchil> we don't really have one
<Hyarion> the GoogleMaps extension seems to be partially working, still needs a few more tweaks to work with our installation however.
<Eldarion> nomination, election and then publishing
<Eldarion> ah okay
<Ederchil> but no time frame
<Morgan> Ederchil, I saw that you started to work on a policy: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Tolkien_Gateway_talk:Featured_articles
<Eldarion> yes
<Eldarion> it's still a kind of static front page
<Ederchil> stress the start part
<Ederchil> stress the start part
<Morgan> Well, I don't have so much to opinion on this point. What Ederchil was a good start, IMHO
<Ederchil> it's well over a year old
<Ederchil> forgot that I wrote that
<Amroth> I think it's good
<Morgan> Slight off-topic: I saw that Ederchil differentiated between Portrayal in Adaptations and Merchandise. Has this been used in many articles? How do we define the difference?
<Eldarion> sound very good
<Eldarion> yes
<Morgan> Personally, I often write something about a concept's portrayal in MERP (rpg game) - is that merchandise or adaptation?
<Ederchil> both?
<Amroth> a grey point, i think
<Morgan> (well- not that often - it has happened a few time)
<Morgan> *times
<Amroth> Board games could be both too
<Morgan> Anyway, since Mith suggested this point and since he's not here - maybe there's not so much to discuss?
<Morgan> I guess we could find good basic guidelines for nominating articles on WP, which we could reuse
<Amroth> Maybe we must wait with discuss it until he arrives
<Eldarion> would it be good to have a timeframe?
<Amroth> I think a timeframe would be good
<Morgan> How do you mean?
<Ederchil> article of the month
<Ederchil> article of the year
<Ederchil> article of whenever we decide to put up a new one
<Eldarion> don't know, but it takes too long until we have a new one
<Eldarion> IMO
<Amroth> I'll would take article of the month
<Eldarion> but we had article of the month and it didn't work, did it?
<Amroth> but then nominating & vooting needs to quicker
<Morgan> Do we have enough good articles for a monthly cycle? ;)
<Ederchil> and we need regulars for that
<Eldarion> yes
<Eldarion> yeah, that's another question
<Amroth> I think we have
<Hyarion> the hardest part I think isn't the quantity of good articles, but the voting process participation.
<Morgan> An idea: perhaps it wouldn't matter if the same article show up for the same month (if we have a monthly cycle)?
<Morgan> Then we could have a set for each year...
<Eldarion> so maybe we need someone who is responsible and if we all visit the page once a month and vote for an article/quote it could work
<Amroth> a year would be to long
<Morgan> A set of monthly articles
<Eldarion> yes, i wouldn't mind repeating articles
<Morgan> At least it gives some nice change to the main page of TG
<Eldarion> or that
<Amroth> yeah
<Morgan> I would vote for three different sets of 12 articles
<Eldarion> yes
<Morgan> We could vote for which articles to include, and then appoint someone to change each month
<Morgan> And if we don't come up with new articles, we could just re-use the sets after three years (or change them slightly)
<Morgan> Well, it's just an idea
<Ederchil> or we could just create templates {{Featured Article/Month Year}}
<Ederchil> with the {{CurrentMonth}} and {{Currentyear}} it changes automatically
<Eldarion> shall we vote once or montly until we have sets for 3 years?
<Morgan> Would a template be automatic?
<Amroth> yes
<Morgan> I see
<Amroth> i think
<Morgan> I would suggest once.
<Morgan> (altough it doesn't have to be written in stone - if it comes up to discussion on a talk page or in a meeting, the set could always be changed
<Eldarion> hm, so we all nominate at least 12 articles and everybody votes and in the end we have the 12 most voted
<Eldarion> and these 12 are the set for one year
<Eldarion> after this year we can discuss again whether we want to reuse the old ones or just vote new ones
<Morgan> Yes. And I would suggest that nominating and voting to take place on TG.
<Morgan> (that is, not here in the meeting)
<Hyarion> agreed.
<Amroth> agree
<Eldarion> yes, of course
<Eldarion> so our nominations pages need a new structure?!
<Morgan> Ederchil, would you mind looking into creating such a template (I'm only learning to create templates)?
<Eldarion> erm, are we talking about FA or FQ or both?
<Amroth> both
<Morgan> I was mostly thinking about FA
<Eldarion> but it could work for FQ as well, couldn't it?
<Ederchil> You just make a page, Tolkien Gateway: Featured Article/October 2009
<Morgan> Sure
<Ederchil> and then on the main page, you put {{:Tolkien Gateway: Featured Article/{{CURRENTMONTH}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}
<Ederchil> * {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}
<Morgan> Can non-sysops edit the main page?
<Ederchil> nope
<Amroth> For Quotes, we maybe could do it by day
<Ederchil> or week, for a start
<Eldarion> 365 per year?
<Amroth> no
<Amroth> every month it starts again
<Amroth> if you use {{Featured Article/{{CURRENTDAY}}}}
<Eldarion> ah ok
<Amroth> on wikia they usually use this for featured articles
<Eldarion> yes
<Ederchil> true
<Ederchil> that's where I got it from
<Morgan> Anyone's willing to be responsible for this project?
<Eldarion> shall we do it for both FA and FQ? FA montly, FQ daily. pro, cons?
<Eldarion> if my internet would work properly i would do it
<Eldarion> but at the moment...
<Morgan> I agree with Ederchil - not more than one FQ per week
<Amroth> yes, I agree with Eldarion
<Amroth> does the {{CURRENTWEEK}} actually wrok
<Ederchil> I have no idea
<Amroth> when I tried it, it always didn't work
<Eldarion> hm, if FQ changes daily, how many quotes do we need?
<Eldarion> *weekly
<Amroth> at other wikis too, i toguth
<Ederchil> 52?
<Amroth> 31 for days
<Amroth> 52 for weeks
<Eldarion> hm, although i think we could find 52 easily
<Amroth> I prefer dayly
<Eldarion> do you know third age total war? it's a lotr mod for a game. it uses quotes from the books and therefore i have a textfile with hundreds of good quotes
<Eldarion> hm who is for 52 and who is for 31?
<Ederchil> 52
<Amroth> that's defiantly the best mod from LOTRO
<Morgan> +1
<Eldarion> yes!
<Eldarion> @ amroth
<Amroth> I'm going for dayly, so 31
<Eldarion> +1 for 52
<Eldarion> that's 3:1 for weekly unless hyarion..
<Hyarion> sounds fine to me.
<Amroth> did others also notice that the "make a map"-button has been added
<Hyarion> added, but still broken, hopefully it's just a minor issue.
<Amroth> It's currently the only button that shows up by me
<Eldarion> that has to have to do with the Google maps for arda extension
<Hyarion> also the missing edit bar seems to work fine in Firefox, so the issue seems to be just with IE/Chrome/etc
<Eldarion> it did work for my mediawiki installation and KA's as well
<Amroth> I've IE
<Amroth> but i need to go
<Amroth> See you latter
<Hyarion> thanks for stopping by Amroth
<Eldarion> bye
<Morgan> Bye, Amroth
<Ederchil> bye
<Eldarion> good luck with CKV^^
<Amroth> thanks
<Amroth> BTW: {{CURRENTWEEK}} works here :)
|<-- Amroth has left irc.tolkiengateway.net (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
<Eldarion> cool
<Morgan> where?
<Ederchil> TG
<Morgan> ok
<Eldarion> we need at least 12 nominations for FA and 52 for FQ
<Hyarion> that should be do-able.
<Morgan> agree
<Hyarion> next topic?
<Morgan> yes
<Ederchil> Should we kill Featured Gatekeepers?
<Ederchil> wholehearted yes
<Eldarion> +1
<Morgan> What was the idea of FG?
<Hyarion> or at least put on hold until there are enough to people who deserve recognition.
<Morgan> ..
<Eldarion> i think it was for thanking people who have helped to improve the wiki
<Eldarion> but i think we need our energy for different more urgent things
<Eldarion> does anyone disagree?
<Ederchil> nope
<Morgan> nope
<Hyarion> we can always re-start the idea at a later date.
<Eldarion> yes
<Ederchil> next point: should we move the database and images to a new server? Implications? New name? What does Hyarion (and other editors) think about this?
<Eldarion> so we just remove it from the Main Page and leave the project page?
<Ederchil> oh, agree w/ Eldarion
<Hyarion> agreed.
<Eldarion> okay
<Eldarion> next
<Eldarion> at this point the thing KingAragorn has posted fits in?!
<Hyarion> ?
<Ederchil> the thing at the beginning
<Ederchil> the one that was too long to read ;)
<Eldarion> yes
<KingAragorn> ok, I'm back
<Hyarion> perfect timing :)
<Eldarion> great :)
<Eldarion> hi
<Morgan> (a little bad timing for me, though - having a RL issue with my wife - return soon)
<KingAragorn> [2010-09-05 20:19:49] <KingAragorn> ok, any idea on a timeframe?
<KingAragorn> [2010-09-05 20:19:56] <Hyarion> soon.

BUT you have lost the commitment you had and your current actions (or inactions) are extremely irresponsible when you consider all of the work everyone has put into Tolkien Gateway.
<Hyarion> I guess I don't really see the benefits to such an idea.
<KingAragorn> which particular idea?
<Hyarion> having to fork the content and start over.
<Eldarion> yes, agree, having two sites would be the worst possibility
<KingAragorn> exactly
<Eldarion> we talked about the server issues at the beginning of the meeting
<Eldarion> and it sounded as if a lot of them have been solved?!
<Hyarion> KingAragorn has a lot of statements, so I guess the best thing is to just go point by point.
<Eldarion> i can't check
<Eldarion> yes
<Hyarion> "being denied the most basic wiki features"
<Hyarion> KingAragorn, what are the critical features you are being denied right now?
<KingAragorn> even the editor toolbar doesn't work
<KingAragorn> javascript doesn't work
<KingAragorn> custom css and JS doesn't work
<KingAragorn> the skins are buggy
<Hyarion> it works fine in Firefox, but it looks like IE/Chrome need to need to be tweaked for it to render correctly.
<Hyarion> let's go point by point.
<Hyarion> How should we fix the editor toolbar?
<KingAragorn> make it appear? and when it's there make the buttons work?
<Hyarion> which buttons don't work when it appears?
<Hyarion> I'm used to using Firefox so I never noticed any issues, but we definitely want to support as many different browsers and versions as possible.
<KingAragorn> it looks like this: http://www.tolkiengateway.net/wiki/File:Preview_spell.png
<KingAragorn> I use Firefox
<Eldarion> what could be the reason? i can't believe that mediawiki doesn't work properly for IE
<KingAragorn> it doesn't work in any browser
<Hyarion> Eldarion, we have so many extensions/skins/tweaks, when combined they all play havoc on each other.
<Eldarion> ah, i see
<Hyarion> KingAragorn, I'm using Firefox and it works fine for me, so it's possible it is certain versions of different browsers.
<KingAragorn> well nothing appears for me and I know it doesn't work for Mith, anyone else found this? Also when you click the button it doesn't do anything - try it as it appears on your browser
<Hyarion> bold/italics/signature/etc all seemed to work fine.
<KingAragorn> the inserttag function doesn't work (i.e. we can't add special characters as well)
<Hyarion> I just tried editing another page and the toolbar has disappeared, so it definitely looks like something is overriding the correct code.
<KingAragorn> also, did you recently install Eldarion's extension?
<Hyarion> KingAragorn, we are still in the process of configuring it
<Eldarion> yes
<KingAragorn> I was messing with the code on a private mediawiki - it might an idea to change the mediawiki code tag from '<googlemaps>' to something more appropriate
<Eldarion> yes
<KingAragorn> ok let's talk about the main problem we have, your inactivity as a site owner/admin
<Hyarion> okay.
<Hyarion> Just like the discussion last meeting, we are always looking for people who know what they are doing and can volunteer to help administer.
<KingAragorn> Mith has the appropriate skills, I think it would be great to share server access
<Hyarion> The difficulty is trying to find someone with the knowledge, time, and that is trustworthy.
<KingAragorn> Mith has the time and is trustworthy too
<Hyarion> perfect, then I'm sure he can solve some of the problems.
<Eldarion> hyarion, do you have a plan how you could fix the problems?
<Ederchil> people, I'm off. good night everybody
<Hyarion> thanks for stopping by Eder, ttyl
<KingAragorn> good night
|<-- Ederchil has left irc.tolkiengateway.net (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
<Eldarion> good night
<Hyarion> Eldarion, each problem has its own requirements for fixing, some are easy and require time, others are more difficult.
<KingAragorn> Hyarion, I hope you don't think I'm being rude but I'm just trying to make sure you know how much we rely on you and your commitment/activity
<KingAragorn> and that if something doesn't change, the remaining editors will give up on TG - and I'm sure none of us want that
<Morgan> Back
<KingAragorn> wb, I hope things are OK with your wife
<Morgan> Yes, it's better - thanks
<Eldarion> well, i personally am completely against creating a new wiki, and it's the site Hyarion has created. so what can we do?
<KingAragorn> the idea is a measure of last resort - no one really wants it
<Eldarion> could mith really help? how much does he know about servers, php,...?
<Eldarion> yes
<KingAragorn> he's run websites in the past
<KingAragorn> including php, apache stuff etc.
<Eldarion> okay, am i right that something similar was discussed on a previous meeting?
<Eldarion> with mith getting access to the server?
<KingAragorn> yes
<KingAragorn> brb
<Morgan> Hyarion, I think communication is always a good way to avoid misunderstandings. If you would write more often on TG we wouldn't be so worried about the current state of TG.
<Morgan> But often it feels like you're not present.
<Morgan> And I don't mean "editing", rather making the rest of us know that you are looking into solving problems, and how the progress is going.
<Hyarion> I watch every single change on the wiki, but my talk page, or e-mail are the best methods if someone is looking for a response.
<Morgan> That's good to know
<Eldarion> what about an own page called "Technical Issues" where everybody experiencing issues posts them and hyarion can update about the process of fixing them
<Eldarion> everybody would have to post the exact browser version and so on
<Eldarion> so hyarion can try to reproduce the errors
<Eldarion> because if he doesn't see the errors he can't start fixing them
<Morgan> True, but I believe Hyar's talk page is enough
<Hyarion> Mith and I can work on the Technical Issues page, if we cross something off and someone still has the issue it can be dealt with then.
<Morgan> That's a good idea
<Morgan> Eldarion - I changed my mind! ;-)
<Eldarion> great, i just mean we need more details about the problems.
<Hyarion> er, I said Technical Issues but I meant Tolkien Gateway:Technical To-do :)
<Hyarion> which really could be merged with Tolkien Gateway:To-do
<Morgan> Is that a page which already exists?
<Morgan> (i.e., Technincal To-do)
<Hyarion> yea
<Eldarion> you mean that: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Tolkien_Gateway:To-do#Technical?
<Hyarion> actually Mith created another one: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Tolkien_Gateway:Technical_To-do
<Eldarion> oh
<Eldarion> okay, forget my idea, that's what i thought of
<Eldarion> maybe you could post the current status of each item, like "still to be fixed" or "fixed" or "am looking into it"
<Morgan> (I made an internal link to the Technical To-do from the main To-do article)
<Eldarion> good
<Eldarion> hyarion? what do you think about including the status?
<Hyarion> I like it.
<Eldarion> okay, it's quite late now (11 pm here) and i think it's no use to discuss this further without KA
<Eldarion> i'm off then
<Morgan> Night, Eldarion!
<Eldarion> good night :)
<--| Eldarion has left #Wiki
<KingAragorn> sorry that I've been in and out tonight
<KingAragorn> it's good to hear that you are willing to work with Mith
<Morgan> I agree.
<Morgan> Hyarion, I remember that you once (quite recently) wrote that you checked back on TG and found that many people had written on your talk page and that you first were dismayed but then thought that it was encouraging that so many people actually cared.
<Morgan> This is my and KA's intention now too, we don't want to be rude or blame you, we just care a lot about having a Tolkien wiki, and sometimes get frustrated when TG don't work.
<Morgan> And personally I'm a little worried that only person has access to the server, although I understand your worry that it might mess up things technically. My worry is that RL will force you (or anyone else being alone) to abandon TG, and then we would be totally stranded.
<Morgan> Feeling lonely here! ;-)
<Morgan> (clarification of earlier message) "...only one person..."
<Morgan> (I'll be around for a little while more - if anyone turns back)
