Welcome! Please feel free to reach out to my on my talk page if you'd like to chat.

I'm especially interested in Arda's geography and the workings of "magic" in Tolkien's universe.

Tolkien books I own[edit | edit source]

I currently have access to the following Tolkien books:

Major contributions[edit | edit source]

Thoughts on Tolkien's legendarium[edit | edit source]

Favorite quotes[edit | edit source]

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
Thorin, The Hobbit, "The Return Journey"

Tears unnumbered ye shall shed; and the Valar will fence Valinor against you, and shut you out, so that not even the echo of your lamentation shall pass over the mountains.
Mandos, The Silmarillion, "Of the Flight of the Noldor"

Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!
Gimli, The Two Towers, "Helm's Deep"

Soapbox[edit | edit source]

Did you know that Tolkien never said that the Orocarni were inhabited by the four eastern clans of the Dwarves? Based on what Tolkien Gateway once said on this subject (across many articles), I used to think he must have said that at some point. I didn't realize the truth until I got my hands on The History of Middle-earth series and confirmed for myself that he never did. This is but one example of something I've personally removed from this website (and many other editors have removed far more fancruft that I have!).

Please don't add fanon to Tolkien Gateway. There's enough complexity and beauty in Tolkien's work to fill volumes without personal additions from us editors.
