Írildë was the daughter of Cemendur, a nobleman of Númenor. Her nephew Hallacar would marry Tar-Ancalimë, the first Ruling Queen of Númenor, making her an aunt of the royal family. Almost nothing is known of her life.[1]
Etymology
Írildë is a contraction of the name Itarildë which means "sparkling brilliance" in Quenya (from ita- = "sparkle" and rildë = "brilliance"). Itarildë is the Quenya form of the Sindarin name Idril.
