Basso Boffin was second of the four children of Buffo Boffin and Ivy Goodenough. His siblings were Bosco, Briffo, and Berylla.
Basso was born in S.R. 1169 (T.A. 2769). He was reputed to have 'gone to sea' in S.R. 1195 (T.A. 2795).
