Boromir means "Faithful Jewel" in Sindarin (from bôr "steadfast, faithful" and mîr "jewel"). It was the name of several Men of the races of the Edain and Dúnedain:
- Boromir of Ladros, ancestor of Beren Erchamion, lived during First Age
- Boromir son of Denethor I, 11th Ruling Steward of Gondor
- Boromir son of Denethor II, one of the Fellowship of the Ring
