The Causeway Forts were fortified twin towers, that were placed to the left and to the right of the gate guarding the Causeway road from Osgiliath to Minas Tirith. The road ran through the Rammas Echor into the Pelennor Fields.

History

During the War of the Ring, Faramir attempted to defend Osgiliath from the Morgul-host, but on 12 March T.A. 3019 he was forced to retreat to the Causeway Forts.[1] He guarded them against the Witch-king, but they were easily overrun.
