Erling Greenhand (b. T.A. 2854 was a working class Hobbit, the third child of Holman the greenhanded

Etymology

Old English eorling means "descendant of an earl (noble)"[1]. It is the same word as Eorlingas but it doesn't refer to Eorl the Young.
