| The famous [[Long-expected Party]] held in the [[Party Field]] (as it was afterwards known) beneath [[Bag End]] on 22 September III 3001. The celebrations marked [[Bilbo]]'s 111th birthday, and also coincidentally [[Frodo]]'s 33rd (his coming of age, in [[Hobbits|Hobbit]] terms). It was known as the 'Farewell' Party because it was then that Bilbo chose to vanish from the [[Shire]], using his [[One Ring|Magic Ring]] to make that happen in a quite literal way. After many wanderings in [[Middle-earth]], he eventually found himself at [[Rivendell]], where he was reunited with Frodo many years later.
