This being the first of the Battles of the Fords of Isen. Saruman attacked the Rohirrim army under the command of Théodred, Grimbold, and Elfhelm. Théodred and the King's only heir were slain in the attack, this was later discovered to be Saruman's main objective. After Théodred was slain the armies withdrew.
