There are two questions I think we need to answer about the Nature of Middle Earth.Turiannerevarine 15:01, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

How to handle chapters

Several chapters in this book are incredibly small (1-3 pages) or are extracts from other works (such as Statute of Finwe), or have been published in other places such as Vinywar Tengwar. LorenzoCB and myself discussed this elsewhere, and it seems that the best way to handle it was to maybe have articles on the new manuscripts. As for extracts or works published in other formats, I guess the best way to handle it would be to update the relevant articles saying that they have now been published in NoME as well as their original sources. Some kind of navigational template would be nice, but the one I tried to make ended up far too big for its own good.Turiannerevarine 15:01, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

As I said, I don't think many of the chapters there are worth of an article, although we should apply their info to the wiki where/if pertinent. My proposal for the template is to create one like those of HoMe books but just listing the important chapters and indicating it is a selection. Anyway this would be done only after we have actual material in the wiki, and as we still have so much stubs for HoMe and TNOME manuscripts, I don't think that's a priority. --LorenzoCB 15:34, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Information

There are quite a few things in NoME that have a status similar to that of the Round World version of the Silmarillion. Things such as Aman no longer being a physical place but some kind of state of memory. These things are potentially ground breaking, but since they were introduced so late into the Legendarium, they can often contradict earlier, published works. Right now it is entirely up to the editor to decide to put facts such as the Eagles being Maiar into the "History" section, or to consign it to the "Other versions of the legendarium" section.Turiannerevarine 15:01, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

This is nothing new. Info from HoMe gives the same problems. The canon policy doesn't reflect it, but what can be seen around is that later info compatible with The Silmarillion and TLOTR can go in the "History" section. That's why we can include dates from the Annals among other things. However, matters like the Eagles' nature are kinda controversial and IMO should go in OVOTL or be discussed in a specific section (maybe I'm wrong with the Eagles, I'd like to study it). Anycase, I recommend caution when including things from TNOME, specially all related with numbers, genealogies and years, although so far I haven't seen much problem. --LorenzoCB 15:34, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
