The Greisinger Museum is a private museum housing the Greisinger Middle Earth Collection (GMEC), a collection of art, literature and collectibles inspired by Middle-earth. The museum is located in Jenins, Switzerland, and is expected to be opened in September 2013 (it has been under construction since mid-2008).[1]
Collection
The Greisinger Middle Earth Collection is Bernd Greisinger's private collection of items related to Middle-earth. A selection of the collection includes:
- over 600 original paintings by more than 100 artists inspired by Tolkien's works (including Roger Garland, the Brothers Hildebrandt, Alan Lee, Ted Nasmith, and many others)
- a copy of every impression of the UK first editions of The Lord of the Rings, as well as copy of each UK impression of The Hobbit from 1937 to 1999 (including many rare, signed books).[2]
