Dr. Jared Charles Lobdell (b. 1937) is an American writer and teacher of Literary Criticism (and many other fields). As such, he has published several articles about various fantasy and science-fiction writers, like C.S. Lewis and George Orwell. His works on Tolkien are:
- England and always: Tolkien's world of the rings (1981, 2nd edition in 2003)
- A Tolkien Compass (1975)
