John Benjamin Tolkien (June 1752 - 27 January 1819) was George William Tolkien's father. He was born in Gdańsk in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and he emmigrated to the United Kingdom after 1770. His wife and George William's mother was Mary Wall (1746 - 16 March 1837).[1]

J.B. Tolkien's grave

John Benjamin Tolkien and his wife Mary are buried in the same grave with William Shrubsole, an English musician and composer of the hymn-tune "Miles Lane".
