On 17 May 1954, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Henry Willink.[1]
- Subject: Discussion about C.S. Lewis, academic matters.
- Publication: A substantial portion of the letter was quoted by Brian Barbour in his article "Lewis and Cambridge", published in the journal Modern Philology 96, no. 4 (cf., pp. 463–4). A shorter and slightly edited version of the extract was published in The Collected Letters of C.S. Lewis: Narnia, Cambridge, and Joy 1950-1963 (p. 475; here wrongly dated 18 May).[2]
