On 9 May 1967, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Oscar Morland.[1][2][3]
- Subject: Tolkien thanks Morland for sending him copies his privately compiled indexes for The Lord of the Rings.
- Description: Typed letter with signature, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, 76 Sandfield Road, Oxford letterhead.
- Publication: A description of the letter was published in The J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide: Chronology (p. 698).

It will probably be of considerable use to me when I have time to turn to the correction and improvement of the index provided in the revised edition of The Lord of the Rings published last year. It is the only index material I have received that takes in the Appendices, and these references will save me a lot of time.
