Odovacar Bolger (S.R. 1335—S.R. 1431) was a hobbit of the Shire.
History[edit | edit source]
Odovacar was the son of Herugar Bolger and Jessamine Boffin. He became head of the family after his father's death. Odovacar married Rosamunda Took, and had two children: Fredegar and Estella. They were all present at Bilbo's Farewell Party.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Odovacar contains aud "wealth" and vacar "watchful".[2] It was the name of a legendary germanic king of Rome.
Portrayal in adaptations[edit | edit source]
2007: The Lord of the Rings Online:
- Odovacar Bolger is a pig farmer living in Budgeford. He asks the player to investigate the rumour of a Black Rider seen at his farm at night, but it turns out to be simply another hobbit playing panks.
