Rhosgobel was the "old home" of Radagast.[1] The house is said to have been located between the Carrock and the Old Forest Road, on the western borders of Mirkwood[2] near its southern borders.[3]

Etymology

Rhosgobel, glossed as "russet village or 'town' (enclosure)",[4] is likely a compound of rhosc ("brown") and gobel ("walled house or village, town").[5] The name of the house was perhaps a reference to its resident, the Brown Wizard.

Portrayal in adaptations

1982-97: Middle-earth Role Playing:

A layout, and a detailed description, is given of Rhosgobel. It is built around a large furry oak tree.[6][7]
