I noticed that Ebakunin has been reverting my deletion of the category Númenoreans from the Rulers of Númenor. Rulers of Númenor is a subcategory of Númenoreans. Pharazôn's Fate

There doesn't seem to be much of a consensus on what the fate of Ar-Pharazôn and his army was, neither in Tolkien's writings nor in this encyclopedia. In the Aman article, it is stated that he was buried alive by falling rocks (which is in agreement with the published Akallabêth). However, it here says that he and his fleet were engulfed by the Sea when Eru changed the World, which is in agreement with Letter 151 and writings in other places. It's hard to tell which fate Tolkien intended for the Armament, external to the story. Internal to the Legendarium, of course, it could never be told for certain, since no one in Middle-earth witnessed the event. In the one source published during Tolkien's lifetime that deals with this event, Appendix A to the Lord of the Rings, Tolkien deftly avoids mentioning it. Thus we are left in a difficult position to determine what happened: the account in the Akallabêth alludes to the Second Prophecy of Mandos, which Tolkien ultimately rejected. Does anyone have a suggestion about what we should do, then? It probably doesn't do to have different entries say different things (unless in each case we annotate the entry with "the fate of Pharazôn and his army is actually rather uncertain, etc.").
