I'm writing MA thesis on Tolkien's elves and stuck with the statement:

"Thranduil, father of Legolas and a Sindarin Elf, is described as having blond hair in The Hobbit (...)"

Where in The Hobbit? Could anyone provide a quotation? I've searched the book through and cannot find it... I'd be most greatful for any help, thanks.

It's "Golden" in "Flies and Spiders":

The feast that they now saw was greater and more magnificent than before; and at the head of a long line of feasters sat a woodland king with a crown of leaves upon his golden hair, very much as Bombur had described the figure in his dream.

Hope that helps. -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 10:17, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
