House[edit source]

In the Unfinished Tales, there's a quote: "Only the Ring of Barahir father of Beren One-hand survived the Downfall; for it was given by Tar-Elendil to his daughter Silmarien and was preserved in the House of the Lords of Andunië, of whom the last was Elendil the Faithful who fled from the wrack of Númenor to Middle-earth." (my emphasis) So, should I create a seperate page for the "House of the Lords of Andunië" or should I include a small section in this article and an infobox for the house? Please advise. Just a thought.--Kulid123 02:23, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't think there's any need for a separate article --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 10:38, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok that's perfectly fine. Should I include a small blurb in the article for the House? Let me know.--Kulid123 16:55, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Indeed this has been misread, it is more or less saying that the Ring of Barahir has come to the possession of the family that hold the title of Lord of Andúnië. It is not indicative of the name of the house, the most likely names of the cadet branch could be House of Andúnië, based on their location, or House of Valandil because he is the first lord. I see no evidence of the former but for the Valandil,

In his [Ar-Pharazôn] earlier days he had a close friendship with Amandil who was afterwards Lord of Andúnië, and he had loved the people of the House of Valandil with whom he had kinship (through Inzilbêth his father's mother).

Bare in mind this is from texts when Tolkien was trying to develop more of a backstory of Míriel and Pharazôn but later abandoned it. So it could be used as a reference to put an actual name of the cadet branch if it is desired by others. Gaetano 19:02, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
