Eriol asked, why Melko was released, and Meril explained that it happened close to the end of the third century of his imprisonment, when Manwë with his hawks saw elves. inhabitants of Valinor cried happily I Eldar tulier, "the Eldar have come", and Manwë unchained Melko before time, living however manacles and fetters from tilkal on him.

Nornorë took the three leaders of elves to Valinor. These were Isil Inwë, ruling over Teleri, Finwë Nólomë, ruling over Noldoli, and Tinwë Linto, ruling over Solosimpi. Meril was a descendant of Inwë, Finwë was the father of Turgon, and Tinwë later stayed with Wendelin in Hisilómë.

Valar decided to invite elves to Valinor (only Makar, Meássë, Mandos, Fui, and Ossë were less enthusiastic). Ulmo with his whale Uin ferried, on the island on which Ossë took Valar after the destruction of the lamps, first Teleri, then Noldoli, and finally started to ferry Solosimpi. Using his island angered Ossë, who stopped it in the middle of the Great Sea, so it become known as Tol Eressëa, the Lonely Island. Teleri and Noldoli built Kôr. After many years Solosimpi used swans and sea birds to take them on ships to Valinor.

Noldoli made a large quantity of gems, of which last and most beautiful were opals until Fëanor made Silmarili.

Eriol did not understand why this beauty had to end, but he had to leave queen Meril.
