The Giant is a character in Farmer Giles of Ham, noted for his uglyness, dumbness and deafness. At the beginning of the story, the Giant is lost from his home in the Wild Hills and tramples Farmer Giles' fields, crops and cattle, including his beloved cow Galathea.
