Third Age 2885 (abbreviated to T.A. 2885) is the 2885th year of the Sun of the Third Age of Middle-earth. Third Age 2885 was also known as S.R. 1285 in Shire-reckoning.
Notable events in this year include:
- Stirred up by emissaries of Sauron the Haradrim cross the Poros and attack Gondor.[1]
- King Folcwine of Rohan fulfills the Oath of Eorl and sends aid to Gondor.[2][3]
- Battle of the Crossings of Poros: Folcred and Fastred, the twin sons of Folcwine, are slain in the service of Gondor.[3][2][1]
- The Rohirrim erect the Haudh in Gwanûr in their honor, by the Crossings of Poros.[2]
- Birth of Hobson Gamgee, son of Hob Gammidge.[4]
