Tulkastor was the father of Vairë, an Elf of Tol Eressëa and the wife of Lindo, the keeper of the Cottage of Lost Play.[2] The Gnomish form of his name was Tulchathron.[3]

Originally the name of the character was Turenbor, later changed to Tulkassë and finally to Tulkastor.[4]
