The Società Tolkieniana Italiana (Italian: "Italian Tolkien Society") was founded in 1994 as a non-profit, non-political association. They publish two journals, Terra di Mezzo (Middle-earth) and Minas Tirith. Their annual three day national convention is called "Hobbiton", and is usually held in the first week of September. The society organises meetings, lectures, seminars, and art exhibitions around Tolkien's works.
