How do we organize the section "All languages"? Alphabetically or by some perceived importance? According to some system of groups (speakers, origin, etc)? --Morgan 20:37, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

The Portals are quite a waste. This in particular was too ambitious. It would be great to have here something similar to Template:Languages but more organized, instead of an abandoned and outdated dictionary. --LorenzoCB 11:57, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
Pronounciation of Gandalf[edit source]
Gandalf is pronounced Gandalv. See Appendix E at The Return of the King under "V". In Sweden we have a history of spelling "v" differently, for instance "f", "fw", "fv" and "v". There are still many places, sport clubs, posh names etc. where an "f" is pronounced "v". The younger generations have not been taught this though.

- There is some debate over this but mostly likely it is pronounced ˈgændælf for the same reason elf is pronounced elF and not elV, If Gandalf were an elven word then you would be correct however as it isn't, the phonological rules set out in Appendix E don't apply here.
