The page is just a mess (it appears to be a sort of personal notebook made after reading Carpenter's biography, cf., for example, heading "Tolkien's childhood fears").--Morgan 10:57, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It might be nice to have a simple timeline of Tolkien's life (perhaps in a table), but this page is atrocious.-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  11:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Do we actually need to delete the page. Or just blank it, start again, and put {{expansion}} at the top? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 14:07, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think that we should start again.-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  17:43, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ten years after the above discussion took place, I've added a few more dates to the timeline (birth of Hilary, marriage, publication dates, death of Edith) and will try to add more from time to time. --Pachyderminator 06:06, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I do like this type of timeline as it is very easy to use for visitors to quickly find specific information they may be seeking. I have amended the format of the page to be more inline with other timelines on TG.
Maybe once this page is updated more it needs to be linked into from the main J.R.R. Tolkien page, though I cannot see where that would be most suitable. I thought perhaps right at the start of the biography section but I am wary of cluttering such an important article -JR Snow 09:37, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Should events that happen after his death (such as the release of the Silmarillion) be included in this list? Aragorn II (talk) 19:04, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
